I've been living with this one for two weeks, so this isn't just a first impression.

This is... a difficult album. It clearly sounds like an album they wrote in the studio, for good and bad. There are some songs that are very different (in a good way) and explore new territory. There are some songs that are 'heavy' jams that never materialize into a good hook.

It's a bit messy, but so is the journey Lzzy has been on, so it makes sense. Overall, there's three songs I think are pretty damn awful (especially lyrically), but the other nine are a really great journey. I'm not sure how to weigh that balance against the other albums of the year yet, but this one definitely hits me emotionally more than anything else this year.

It may not be the record I want, but it's one I need.

… there’s only 2-3 songs I like. Fallen Star is by far the best. Darkness Always Wins is good and Shiver not too bad. The end ballad is ok too. Rest of it is a lot more screaming and emotion drenched even grungy raw rock which does zilch for me. The album gets a 6/10 or 6.5 at the very best.
