It's Testament. I'm a huge Chuck Billy fan. Flips vocal styles - his "dark" voice stuff is a lowered larynx technique. In classical styles they call it the Melocchi Technique. Kaufman does this, which is why he fucked his voice. Corelli is probably the most famous casualty, though the classical field is littered with shattered voices.

But as a mic technique, it's fucking cool, and he executes it well. I'm a spinto tenor with a solid high C/C# and I'm hella-jelly. It's his power. The guy's a beast.
